Discover playbooks

The playbook library is a curated collection of automation recipes organised by what you’re trying to achieve. It lives inside the unified Automations surface at Engage → Automations → Discover (/dashboard/{ws}/automations); the legacy /playbooks route still resolves.

Accessing the library

You’ll see two views:

Simple view (default for SMB workspaces)

A card-based grid showing the most relevant playbooks for your industry and data. Each card shows:

  • Playbook name and description
  • Lifecycle goal (badge)
  • Channels used
  • Estimated impact (“High”, “Medium” — based on your data volume)
  • Activate button

Advanced view (for teams with more experience)

A filterable table with additional columns:

  • Topic coverage map
  • Complexity rating
  • Required channels
  • Prerequisite data (e.g., “requires order events”)

Toggle between views with the Simple / Advanced switch at the top.

Starter packs

New workspaces see a Starter Pack section — a curated set of 3-5 playbooks chosen for your industry and data readiness:

  • If you have order data → Cart abandonment + Post-purchase + Reorder
  • If you have signup data → Welcome series + Activation + NPS
  • If you have both → all of the above

Activate all items in a starter pack with one click.

The in-app counterpart

Playbook discovery on /dashboard/{ws}/automations is the journey- and campaign-shaped half of the discovery story. The in-app channel has its own discovery surface at /dashboard/{ws}/in-app-messages/create — a three-row shell with the same persona-aware ordering:

RowWhat it contains
Smart trigger patternsPre-wired micro-intent tiles — anonymous (always unlocked) and identified-contact (locked until scoring tier is met)
Quick Start templatesFormat gallery — modal, banner, floating widget, survey, full-screen, and interactive families
Blank canvasStart from scratch in the wizard

SMB persona sees outcome cards first; Marketer persona sees templates first — the same useWorkspaceMode() toggle that drives the playbook discovery view above. See the in-app channel guide for the full shell.
