Loyalty tiers
Tiers motivate contacts to engage more by offering escalating benefits. Go to Create → Loyalty → Tiers.
Free tiers vs paid memberships
Tiers in this section are free tiers — customers earn into them through spend or points. They’re complementary to paid memberships, which are a separate recurring-subscription product. A customer can be in a free tier and a paid membership simultaneously.
Creating tiers
Click Add tier and configure:
- Name — display name (e.g. “Gold”, “VIP”, “Platinum”)
- Points threshold — minimum lifetime points to qualify
- Earning multiplier — bonus on future point earning (e.g. 2× for Gold)
- Benefits — text description of exclusive perks (shown to the member)
- Icon / color — visual badge in the member’s profile
Tier progression
Contacts move up automatically when they cross a tier’s points threshold. Whether they can fall back is controlled by:
- Review period — re-evaluate tier status annually / quarterly
- Grace period — how long a contact keeps their tier after falling below the threshold
Tier protection via paid memberships
If you offer a paid membership, you can configure it to protect a free tier. As long as the membership is active, the customer keeps their tier even if their points balance would otherwise drop them:

The protection applies only while the membership is active. When the membership ends (cancellation + period end, or charge failure after dunning), the next tier-recompute job moves them to the tier their points qualify for. Customers see a status note explaining why they’re holding their tier on the Members page.
Configure protection per-membership at Loyalty → Memberships → Paid memberships → {membership} → Perks.
